I'd been thinking about life drawing recently - I'm booked at a class soon, which will be fun no doubt. I rarely draw or paint from life - I absolutely can't afford to pay a model for an evening of posing! This painting was, still, from a photo. However I'd tried a different freehand method for sketching it out.
It's a bit of an exploration of the style of Presenting, though in this case the canvas was bigger so I was aiming to be bolder in my strokes. I did get lost in detail on the face in the end - We are so trained in seeing human faces that even the slightest error oroddity looks so obvious to us. It was hard to stop painting this one - but I learned as always, so the next ones will be better.
