This piece was a re-exploration of a prior theme - A face almost entirely covered but deeply expressive by position and intention. Although this is definitely part of a series of 'Captive' pieces, this is the first to lean more into my primary colour oil style, whereas the earlier pieces were much more towards the photorealism end of my personal spectrum.
The result is a piece that feels akin to the Red Rope series, but distinct - A white backdrop suggests a different static-like space around this subject vs. the deeper, heavier void of the black backgrounds. It is interesting to me how different and how similar these two opposing shades feel around a subject.
