I was struck by the dynamic in the photograph this is based on - the restrained figure is larger, dominating the image against the smaller, semi-hidden dom. There is a lot of muscle going on here, and drawing out those curves and forms was my main aim. Using the bright, almost neon colours I've explored recently helps to keep a very specific mood to the scene.
This is probably one of the largest pieces I've made so far - on a space piece of board found in a hardware store scraps bin! The board was painted first with black acrylic, so the figures stand out even in the darkened areas - the black oil paint shines against the more matted acrylic background.
