Another foray into exploring non-detail focused painting. This was an odd one - I rarely if ever paint on white backgrounds, so flipping my usual black background for a white one gave a whole new sense of what to pick out. On black, I'd be painting highlights. Here it became about painting the shadows, shades and darker elements.
I also aimed firmly to not define the background, like the previous piece. I think this one was more of a challenge to do as it's easy to just have black and your brain reads it as dark - a figure on a pure white background has a totally new feel comparatively. I think it works, I will be building on this in future no doubt.
