A return here to a prior subject - Boy With Book inspired a second, much larger oil painting here. Originally this was intended as a much more straightforward rendition of one of his photographs, however when playing around with the cropping I accidentally ended up with only a very tightly cropped corner and realised I liked it more than the whole image!
I echoed the palette of the prior piece somewhat here - choosing to exaggerate the blues and red skin tones from the photograph in a way that lets the image break up if you look too closely, but from a distance the mind reads them as the whole form.
