One of a series of sketch paintings done for a mural at the Lord Clyde, Deptford.
This was the first sketch painting done after the mural concept had been properly created. At this point I was seeking subjects that were suggestive - the mural was to be on the walls of a corridor leading to a darkroom, after all. The model is an american who I'm fairly sure has no idea I've painted him on the walls of a bar...! That said, several people have commented that they thought this one was actually a self-portrait - Flattering, but not correct.
