Captive #2

May 2020
295 x 218mm
Acrylic on plywood

One of my more intense realist paintings, this was a bit of a test of the new Black 2.0 paint I had just acquired. It definitely suited the dark subject and color balance of this image. This was also a test of painting 'out of focus' areas, i.e. the background. It made for a slightly dreamlike feel with the harsh reality of the implied captivity front and centre. Once again, probably somewhat influenced by the time it was painted in - We all felt a bit trapped then.
