This is, I think, one of the earliest paintings I did in this style - intense, rough forms sharply lit in a darkened space. The contrast between lit and the dark is a method I very much enjoy employing, and this was a good prototype for the style that evolved later on. Fun fact: I think the trainer in the photograph this is based on was actually orange and black, but I wanted more seperation between the two parts of the image, so ... blue it was.
