The final painting in this series, this one is probably my favourite. Whereas several of the others ended up targeted at other people, this one wa very much for myself - I really liked the contrast between the armour and sports kit and the somewhat soft, casual pose the subject is in.
This painting is one of a series all painted on a set of identical plywood boards that were leftover samples from my then-workplace. Each was an attempt to focus on a specific part of the body and figure out how best to paint it. This one was definitely focusing on the hands - the area around the hands and stomach is one of my favourite bits of my paintings, I'm really happy with how that turned out.
