Acrylic on plywood
Emboldened by my first attempt at painting an actual person, four days later I propped up a second board and started on my second painting. This image was chosen almost entirely because I knew how much it would appeal to one of my friends, Eddie. Something about the baseball cap, muscled physique, the bat and the implied power dynamics... He loved it, funnily enough. Hence he now own the original, and it's named for him!
This painting is one of a series all painted on a set of identical plywood boards that were leftover samples from my then-workplace. Each was an attempt to focus on a specific part of the body and figure out how best to paint it. This second painting was focused on physique - also getting my first go at getting shine and shadow on a body.
This painting is in a private collection
